4th of July

Hooray for the U.S.A!  Overall a pretty awesome 4th. We started the weekend with no plans but pulled off a patriotic celebration.  We spent Friday night drinking with some buddies in South Denver then moved into Downtown to meet my high school buddy and some other friends. On Saturday we jumped on our bikes and headed down to Civic Park to enjoy the Denver Symphony and fireworks we heard about with our buddy Carrie. With low expectations, our heads blew up with awesomness! The event was right in front of the beautiful Court House equipped with thousands of bright LED lights. The lights changed colors with every song and was super vibrant. While all this was going on we were trying to figure out where they were going to shoot the fireworks off. Obviously there is no way they were going to rig up the building holding our Judicial system and millions of legal documents with explosives right? WRONG! Fireworks were blowing off every inch of that damn building! After coordinating the Star Spangled Banner with fireworks we all thought it was over and everyone started packing up. WRONG AGAIN! The sky lit up with fireworks and we enjoyed an incredible 20min show along with the crazy changing LED lights. I never thought Urbandale could be trumped...but it happened.  Then of course we went out and drank again.
The actual 4th was pretty tame for us. We woke up late, hung out and made a patriotic meal of sweet corn, garlic bread, watermelon and chicken....or Bocca Chikn' for me. I even made one of those crazy Jello flag cakes...minus the flag design because I don't like segregating my blueberries and strawberries. Welp, all in all a good celebration. We did a bike ride today but i think Amy is forcing me to write that next so I'll spare you details now. Peace.
